The Top 10 Places To Eat In Unawatuna
Unawatuna is foodie heaven but where is the best place to eat? Here’s a quick roundup of the top ten places to eat in Unawatuna as well as tasty dishes you must try!
1. The Smokehouse
It’s possibly the priciest meal we had in Sri Lanka but undoubtedly one of the best! Lured in by the smell of rotisserie chickens slowly cooking on the beach we found a true gem. The Tuna steak comes large and freshly cooked to perfection on the BBQ right in front of you! Heaven.
2. Ni Hao Dumplings
Because who doesn’t love dumplings?! Especially when they are this delicious and come in a recyclable wooden tray with a sauce of your choice.
3. Happy Spice
For a local rice and curry at the top of its game there’s only one place to go. They have great vegetarian options too.
4. Skinny Toms Deli
For freshly baked cakes, meaty pies and delectable bacon and egg hoppers for breakfast look no further than Skinny Toms. The coffee is great and if you sit out back in the garden you may get lucky and spot a troop of monkeys running along the rooftops!
5. Le Cafe Francais Bakery and Boutique
Fresh croissants, pan au chocolates and tea and coffee in fine ceramic cups. Breakfast sorted!
6. Pink Elephant
The way in looks more like a jungle than a restaurant but don’t fear the food is 100% beach. Fresh seafood, pizza and surf and turf.
7. The Hut Rotty Shop
It’s hard to choose a rotty at this little stall on Unawatunas main shopping street. Cheese and bacon, banana and chocolate, curry; the possibilities are endless!
8. The Lemongrass Cafe
One of the highest rated restaurants around, Lemongrass Cafe sells tasty local dishes at really great prices.
9. Koha Surf Lounge
Japanese style seating on the floor, art on the walls and tasty wraps and salads for lunch. Grab a coffee and watch the day unfold.
10. Kat’s Coffee
Amazing coffee and tasty treats. Great for when you’re waiting for the bus on the main road.
